Breaking down barriers in cardiology trials
Cardiology trials often fail to reflect real world patients, with women, minorities and those with multiple conditions underrepresented due to misdiagnosis, access issues and restrictive eligibility criteria. This leads to data that is less applicable in practice. The paper explains how more inclusive trial design through culturally aware engagement, flexible participation options and the use of real world data can reduce barriers, improve recruitment and retention, and generate evidence that better reflects the populations most affected by cardiovascular disease.
