Most trials focus on eligibility—who meets the clinical criteria on paper. But eligibility doesn’t guarantee recruitability: whether patients will actually say yes, and keep saying yes once enrolled.

This gap explains why so many studies struggle to meet recruitment targets and suffer costly dropouts. Clinical and demographic data alone can’t predict these decisions. What’s missing are the non-clinical drivers—beliefs, trust, access, and context—that shape patient behavior.

This session will examine how the field can move beyond eligibility toward true recruitability, using new types of data and AI to understand and anticipate the human “WHY.” Attendees will gain new insights including:

  • How hidden human factors impact recruitment, retention, and site performance.
  • Emerging novel data and AI tools to predict who will join and stay in a trial rooted in patient experience.
  • Gain practical strategies to integrate deep human intelligence into feasibility and design decisions for studies that are patient-ready, inclusive, and resilient.
