How CROs Use RWD and Lab Insights to Improve Clinical Trials

This survey report reveals why and how CROs use RWD, and the critical role of lab data in recruitment, site selection, and outreach results.

Contract research organizations (CROs) play a strategic role in helping clinical trial sponsors improve and accelerate outcomes, and they are under pressure to leverage real-world data (RWD). In a poll of 150 clinical trial professionals from across pharmaceutical and CRO roles, 82% say they plan to expand their use of RWD in the next 12 to 18 months. But not all RWD is created equal. Can lab data fill the gaps?

This survey report explores how CROs plan to use RWD. Select findings from the survey reveal where lab data can offer an advantage, providing precision and context that other sources often miss when it comes to patient recruitment. Highlights include:

  • What drives shifts in strategy, including top obstacles and pathways for a more precise, effective approach.
  • The critical value and pain points of recruitment, and how lab data can be instrumental in identifying eligible patients.
  • By the numbers: survey participants report how they use RWD, say more about lab data.
